When paired with Chimbote, a moderately expressed Appaloosa male, Georgia produced Rare Gem Thankful Eve, a spectacular nose-to-toes leopard Appaloosa female who was consigned and sold through the 2025 Education with a Destination auction. We were so pleased with that pairing that we repeated the breeding. Georgia is currently bred back to Chimbote, giving her new owner another opportunity from the same combination that produced Thankful Eve. At Georgia’s side is her beautiful 2026 daughter, Rare Gem hAppy Down Under, sired by our Harlequin Appaloosa male, Rare Gem Camouflage. And her name comes with a little story. At first glance, hAppy appears much more conservatively marked than her leopard-patterned sister. But when she was sheared, a wonderful surprise was revealed: her Appaloosa spotting was hiding “down under,” across her belly. Hence the name hAppy Down Under. Her unusual expression makes her especially interesting. While her pattern may not announce itself from across the pasture, the spotting revealed beneath her fleece offers another intriguing example of Georgia’s ability to produce pattern when bred into Appaloosa genetics.
