Like father like son. Avatar's Avalance sire is the multiple championship winning rose grey herdsire Avatar from Delphi Alpacas. Avalance has his dad's beautiful fine, dense, and crimpy rose grey fiber. Also taking after his sire, Lance has done very well in the show ring in large competitive classes. 4 shows and 4 ribbons and a 4th place at Nationals in a class of 15!!!
People are first drawn to Avalance by his gorgeous color. Head to toe coverage on this grey boy. Strong grey genet... |

Periwinkle is a great foundation dam. Before joining the Rare Gem line up, Periwinkle was a grey program foundation dam. She threw 3 out of 3 grey offspring when bred to grey. Suspecting that she may be a "blank", she was added to the Rare Gem harlequin / appaloosa team. Sure enough, she has thrown 2 out of 2 harlequin / appaloosas for us when bred to harlequin appaloosa herdsire, Cashmere's U-Taupe-ia. The first boy was a handsome beige with spots on his belly and legs that greyed out down his... |

Fall 2022- Congratulations to Mary Miller of Aspen Alpacas on her purchase of FTAF Privateer. At age 10, Privateer is as handsome as ever and going strong. We are ever so grateful for what he has added to our herd over the years. He has blessed Rare Gem Alpacas and our clients with many amazing champions and foundation offspring. We will miss this sweet dispositioned boy, but happy that he is going to such a great home and program. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *... |

Persephone was strong and healthy from the moment she was born. She has all the best qualities of her sire, Avatar son, Avalance, and her mom, a top producer and Bisturi daughter, Periwinkle. She has a rich, dense, spot-free blanket, and inherited the trademark Avatar fineness from her sire. Just like her older medium silver grey half sister (from the same dam), Athena, she will make a real impact on any grey breeding program going forward.
Persephone's grandsire on her dam's side is Avatar, and on her sire's side is Bisturi, two of the preeminent grey herdsires of the modern era!
February 13, 2017 Persephone delivered a beautiful 18.5 pound dark silver grey cria-- Rare Gem US Steel's I'm Too Sexy! He was up and walking within 15 minutes and hasn't stopped strutting his stuff since. He was born 30 days early, big-boned, dense and handsome as all get out. This is Persephone's first cria. She delivered without any complications and is a natural mother. Sexy gained 1.5 pounds in his first 6 days.
